Skillsoft Skills Activity Report 2020

As a piece of design, it’s honestly not my favorite work ever. But as a sales piece, it had a profound effect on the fortunes of our company. When this bubble chart report debuted, the EdTech world was abuzz with talk of Skills & skill acquisition as the new coin of the realm for measuring success. Skillsoft was also midway through a complex, drawn out, and risky SPAC merger. By leveraging existing data about skill acquisition in a new and visually engaging way, Skillsoft demonstrated successfully to SPAC investors that their product fulfilled demand.

Percipio is the app through which Skillsoft delivers the majority of its learning content. 65% of the Fortune 500 and other massive clients like the US Army use Skillsoft training software.

“What are our people learning?” is one of the first questions executive stakeholders have about corporate L&D efforts.

To meet this need, I created a bubble chart that measures learner activity and acquisition of specific skills. Throughout our SPAC merger, this report was used extensively by our leadership and PR people in pitching the company. It created the sense that we were on the right track relative to the industry at an important time. Our stock reached its highest share price to date in the following months.
